Part-Time Custodian/Maintenance Person
Job Summary
The part-time Custodian/Maintenance Person is responsible for ensuring the facility and grounds are clean, well-maintained, and safe for all occupants. This position performs a variety of janitorial duties and assists with minor maintenance tasks, working with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Cleaning and sanitation
- Perform routine janitorial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and fixtures; restock supplies like soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Dust furniture, fixtures, and surfaces throughout the building.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
- Building and equipment maintenance
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, unclogging toilets, and fixing small leaks.
- Perform preventative maintenance on cleaning equipment to ensure it remains in good working order.
- Report the need for major repairs or maintenance issues to property deacon and deacon board.
- Conduct routine checks to ensure building security, including locking doors and windows.
- Groundskeeping and outdoor maintenance
- Perform groundskeeping duties, such as picking up litter.
- Assist with snow and ice removal from walkways during winter.
- Event setup
- Assist with setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and other equipment for special events.
- Inventory and supply management
- Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and equipment inventory.
- Submit requests to order new supplies as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One or more years of experience in janitorial or general maintenance work is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Mechanically inclined
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Familiarity with cleaning products, techniques, and safety procedures.
- Ability to pass a background check.
